Background

When I was studying my MA in Advertising at the University of Leeds, one of the modules I took was in brand management and corporate identity. To complete this module, I was required to produce a report on a brand of my choice, analysing aspects such as its customer-based brand equity, brand meaning, brand imagery, brand logo and celebrity endorsement opportunities. One of the report tasks was to produce a short piece of creative writing in the style of an opinion feature describing why your chosen brand could be regarded as "cool".

I chose to write about premium eyewear brand Kirk & Kirk, who are renowned for their high quality products and award-winning chunky, iridescent acrylic glasses frames. The following is the article that I wrote.

Results

I achieved a grade of 76% (equivalent to Distinction level classification) for the entire assignment including the article piece. The assessor commented on my aptitude for descriptive journalistic writing and praised the thoroughness of my research and analysis. I went on to graduate from my MA with a Distinction, thanks, in part, to the grade that I attained for this assignment.
